Brandon Jones will have a little local sports flavor next weekend in the Xfinity Series’ race at Texas Motor Speedway.
The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that the rookie’s No. 33 Chevrolet at Richard Childress Racing will be sponsored by the Texas Rangers for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 300.
Jones’ firesuit will also be made to look like a Rangers’ uniform.
Jones is also scheduled to throw out the opening pitch for the Rangers’ April 6 game against the Seattle Mariners.
“The Rangers see this as an opportunity for marketing exposure in a way we don’t usually experience,” Rangers spokesman John Blake told the Star-Telegram. “There is a crossover audience among baseball and NASCAR fans, so this partnership makes a lot of sense for us. We also look for Brandon Jones to have a great ride in the No. 33 Rangers car.”
After five races this season, Jones is currently fourth in the point standings with three top-10 finishes.
