Ford power: Keselowski, Logano turn in top speeds in Friday Sprint Cup practice at Las Vegas

Fords and Chevrolets ruled Friday’s first Sprint Cup practice at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, while Toyotas struggled.

Ford drivers and Team Penske teammates Brad Keselowski (195.327 mph) and Joey Logano (195.263) were fastest on the speed chart.

Eight Chevys followed: Kurt Busch (195.235), Paul Menard (194.496), Brian Vickers (194.398, subbing for the injured Tony Stewart), Kasey Kahne (194.189), Kevin Harvick (194.126), Atlanta winner Jimmie Johnson (194.126), Chase Elliott (194.105) and Ryan Newman (193.952).

The fastest Toyota was Matt Kenseth, who was 11th fastest at 193.882 mph.

Up next for the Sprint Cup regulars: Qualifying for Sunday’s Kobalt 400 race will take place at 7:45 p.m. ET tonight.
