Erik Jones tops first of 3 Xfinity practice sessions at Atlanta

Like the early bird catching the worm, Erik Jones started Friday’s early Xfinity Series practice off right at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Jones shot to the top of the speed charts with a best lap of 183.358 mph, followed by Ryan Reed (182.880), Blake Koch (182.507), Jeb Burton (182.332) and Ty Dillon (182.213).

Dillon is doing double duty this weekend, also filling in for the injured Tony Stewart in the Sprint Cup Series.

There will be two other Xfinity practices today: 12:30 p.m. to 1:25 p.m. ET and 2:30 p.m. to 3:55 p.m. ET.
