DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Denny Hamlin captured a victory in the Sprint Unlimited for the third time in his career, winning Saturday night in the debut of NASCAR’s new overtime policy.

Hamlin fended off a late charge by Joey Logano before the caution flew on the 79th lap, four laps beyond the scheduled distance in the season-opening exhibition at Daytona International Speedway. It was the second win in the past three editions of the event for Hamlin’s No. 11 Toyota of Joe Gibbs Racing.
