Dale Earnhardt Jr. fastest in first practice Saturday at Daytona

Dale Earnhardt Jr. posted the fastest lap in practice Saturday morning at Daytona International Speedway. He topped the speed chart at 194.116 mph.

Defending Daytona 500 winner Joey Logano was next at 193.853 mph. Matt Kenseth was next at 193.782 mph and was followed by rookie Chase Elliott (193.586 mph) and Kasey Kahne (193.582)

This was the first of two practices Saturday for all teams in preparation of Sunday’s Daytona 500 qualifying. Saturday’s second practice session is from 1:30 - 3:25 p.m. ET.

There were no incidents in Saturday’s first practice session.
