While Jamie McMurray is making a charge to the checkered flag, fans can now do some charging of their own.
During a press conference Friday at Daytona International Speedway, Credit One Bank was announced as the “official credit card of NASCAR,” as well as a sponsor on McMurray’s No. 1 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet SS.
“The marketing strategy is going to be great,” McMurray said. “I’m excited to be a part of it.”
Credit One Bank will serve as primary sponsor of McMurray for three NASCAR Sprint Cup races (the first coming at Richmond on April 24), as well as an associate sponsor for the rest of the remaining 33 points-paying races.
The credit card will offer fans a number of sign-up incentives, Credit One vice president of marketing communications Laura Faulkner said.
Those incentives include one percent cash back on eligible purchases, two percent cash back on purchases at NASCAR.com, as well as promotions and exclusive deals throughout the year.
“The fans are going to be the winners here,” said Steve Phelps, NASCAR executive vice president and chief marketing officer. “As our entire industry gears up for Daytona 500 weekend, this new agreement signals that NASCAR is still one of the most effective marketing spends in all of sports.”
