Stewart-Haas Racing on Wednesday said it will announce who will replace Tony Stewart during Daytona Speedweeks in a press conference Friday at Daytona International Speedway.

The announcement will take place at 11:30 a.m. ET in the DIS media center.

Stewart will miss an undetermined number of races after undergoing surgery last week to repair a burst fracture of the L1 vertebrae suffered in an all-terrain vehicle accident in Southern California on January 31.

The interim driver to be named will be for Speedweeks. SHR has not announced if the same interim driver will continue in that role after the Daytona 500, or if another driver will take over.

Scheduled to appear at the press conference are SHR president Brett Frood, SHR vice-president of competition Greg Zipadelli and Stewart’s crew chief, Mike Bugarewicz.
