NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty will be featured on today’s Super Bowl 50 pregame show on CBS.
Along with several other sports and entertainment celebrities, Petty will discuss his “experiences and insights of the history and tradition of the Super Bowl,” according to a media release.
CBS recently interviewed The King at the Petty Museum in Level Cross, North Carolina. The segment will air just before the expected 6:30 pm ET kickoff of the big game, according to the release.
Unlike many other NASCAR drivers and officials, Petty will not be on hand and in-person in Santa Clara, California.
But he’s no stranger to the Super Bowl experience, having attended Super Bowl XIV 36 years ago at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.
Given that one of the Panthers’ primary colors is a close match to Petty Blue, plus he’s a native North Carolinian, it’s not surprising who The King is pulling for to win today’s game:
“As well as Cam (Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton) and the team have been playing recently, they will be really tough to beat,” Petty said.
