Spencer Gallagher is going to be putting in some overtime in 2016.

One of three Camping World Truck Series drivers for GMS Racing, Gallagher will also drive in an undetermined number of Xfinity Series races as well, the organization announced Wednesday.

Gallagher will drive the No. 21 GMS Chevrolet Camaro, beginning March 12 at Phoenix International Raceway.

GMS currently fields three full-time Truck teams with Gallagher, Johnny Sauter and newcomer Grant Enfinger behind the wheel.

Gallagher finished 10th in his first full season in a Truck last season, while Sauter finished fourth with ThorSport Racing. Enfinger won the 2015 ARCA Racing Series championship.

“This is big for GMS Racing,” Mike Beam, GMS Racing Director of Competition, said in a team media release. “We’ve worked hard to make sure we have the right resources in place to take the next step and we feel like now is the right time. This will be a great opportunity for us to put our equipment to the test, make improvements and get Spencer some additional experience.”

Gallagher’s crew chief in the Xfinity races will be Joey Cohen, who joins GMS after serving as lead engineer at Roush Fenway Racing.

“I’m excited to take on a new role with GMS Racing and to add to the team’s development,” Cohen said. “I truly feel like we have put together a strong team to pave the way for GMS Racing to break out in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.”
