It was revealed Tuesday that three-time Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart has been hospitalized since Sunday for a back injury sustained while driving an ATV on the West Coast.
The news comes with three weeks remaining until the Daytona 500.
The severity of the injury won’t be officially known until Thursday, but Stewart’s competitors and others in the NASCAR community took to social media to send the driver their regards.
But let’s first note a tweet from Stefan Wilson. Wilson is the brother of the late Justin Wilson, the IndyCar driver who died last year from a head injury sustained in the Verizon IndyCar Series’ race at Pocono Raceway. It was reported that Stewart donated the use of his personal plane to the Wilson family in order for them to quickly get to the hospital where Justin Wilson was located at in Pennsylvania after the accident.
Hoping @TonyStewart is okay. Will always be grateful for his help in my families time of need.
