NASCAR teams and the sanctioning body have a long history of hiring interns, to give them their first break and exposure to the sport and a potential career for them.
But Danica Patrick’s team this year marks the first time a NASCAR organization has sponsored “Fanterns” – and you can be part of it.
With GoDaddy.com now in the past, Patrick’s new primary sponsor for 2016, Nature’s Bakery, announced Thursday a unique at-track program that will allow fans to engage with Patrick and her team on 26 race Sprint Cup weekends.
“We’re so ready to kick of the 2016 season with Danica and SHR, and our new Fantern program is a great way to get fans engaged with our new partnership,” Nature’s Bakery founder Dave Marson said in a media release. “We’re taking a different approach to our racing program and this is the first of many initiatives we look forward to embarking upon.”
Called the Nature’s Bakery Fantern Program, it kicks off at the March 3 Sprint Cup race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
“The Fantern’s race-day experience will include spending time with the Nature’s Bakery pit crew, a tour of the Sprint Cup garage and pit area, meeting Patrick and watching the race from pit road. Fanterns will share social content from their at-track adventure utilizing the #Fantern hashtag,” according to the team.
Here’s the fine print:
“U.S. residents can visit www.NaturesBakery.com/Fantern to apply to be a part of the No. 10 Nature’s Bakery team. Fans have two options to submit their applications for the role: submit a one-minute video, or several photos accompanied by a 500-word essay detailing why the fan should be selected as the next Nature’s Bakery Fantern. Applicants will be judged on several criteria, including: creativity, articulation, story and uniqueness.”
