Kyle Busch shows rod, pins and screws that held leg, foot together

Kyle Busch suffered a compound leg injury early on in the NASCAR season, but that didn't stop him from winning the Sprint Cup. Busch recently tweeted out a photo of the metal that was removed from his leg.

You’ve heard of the phrase, “putting the pedal to the metal.”

In Kyle Busch’s case, he’s now reclaimed some of that metal.

Busch tweeted out a photo of his Sprint Cup championship trophy, accompanied by a long metal rod and several screws and pins that were removed from his leg during offseason surgery last month.

Of course, the extra hardware was a result of the surgeries he had nearly a year ago to properly set the broken right leg and fractured left foot he sustained from a terrible crash in the season-opening Xfinity Series race at Daytona International Speedway.
