Furniture Row Racing announced Tuesday at the NASCAR Media Tour that Bass Pro Shops will sponsor the No. 78 of Martin Truex Jr. in eight points races this season, plus the Can-Am Duel at Daytona.

The news comes after the No. 78 team produced its best season yet, with Truex winning one race and making it to the championship race in the Chase for the Sprint Cup.

The team has been largely sponsored only by team owner Barney Visser’s furniture company since the team’s inception in 2005.

“It has been a long journey for Furniture Row Racing,” said team manager Joe Garone. “Most people know Furniture Row has sponsored the car for years. I think we’ve been looking for sponsor for just about as many years. It gets overlookes sometimes because we have logos on the car.”

It’s a reunion for Truex and Bass Pro, who were paired together when Truex drove the No. 1 car during his days at Dale Earnhardt Inc.

Bass Pro was the sponsor on Truex’s car when he earned his first Sprint Cup win in 2007 at Dover International Speedway.

Stewart-Haas Racing confirmed to NASCAR Talk that the outdoor speciality store will still be a sponsor of the No. 14 of Tony Stewart at in 2016.

An RCR spokesman said Bass Pro Shops will remain a significant sponsor on the Sprint Cup car of Austin Dillon and Xfinity car of Ty Dillon. The team will have a news conference Thursday in which it will reveal its 2016 sponsorship plans.
