FURNITURE ROW RACING
SPRINT CUP DRIVER LINEUP: Martin Truex Jr. (crew chief, Cole Pearn)
CHANGES: After years spent with Chevrolet, Furniture Row Racing will compete in 2016 as part of the Toyota family and will be part of a technical partnership with Joe Gibbs Racing … Bass Pro Shops will sponsor the No. 78 for nine races.
DID YOU KNOW? All of the original Toyota-backed teams in the Sprint Cup have closed down.
EXPECTATIONS: Both Furniture Row Racing and Truex had their best seasons in 2015. They won one race (Pocono) and made it all the way to the championship race. The team will have more to prove, especially with a new engine manufacturer and its first non-Furniture Row sponsor in Bass Pro Shops.
WHAT THEY SAID:
– “We won’t be able to sneak up on everybody quite as easily this year,” Martin Truex Jr.
– “Really looking forward to the Toyota relationship. I’ve had experience with those folks a few years ago (at Michael Waltrip Racing), and it was always a very good experience and just really admire what they’ve put into their racing program.” – Truex.
– “I can’t think of one area in our team where we’re getting worse instead of improving,” crew chief Cole Pearn.
