While he may be part of the NASCAR Next program, the next item on Dylan Lupton’s agenda is taking part in the ARCA Racing Series test this weekend at Daytona International Speedway.

Lupton, 22, is testing the No. 82 Ford Fusion, the product of an alliance between Win-Tron Racing and Empire Racing Group. Rain canceled Friday’s session. ARCA has added Sunday as a test day with Friday’s session washed out. Saturday’s test will go from 9 a.m. to noon ET and 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. ET. Sunday’s session will have the same times.

Lupton is hoping to be cleared to compete in the ARCA season opener, Feb. 13, at Daytona.

“This surely is a dream come true and I can’t thank everyone enough for making this possible,” Lupton said in a media release.

As for competing on the NASCAR circuit this season, Lupton said: “We’re working hard to put all the right pieces together. This opportunity to test at Daytona this weekend though gives us an added boost to hopefully put things in place with my NASCAR season.

Lupton finished second in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West championship in 2014 and ran a partial schedule in the NASCAR Xfinity Series last season for Athenian Motorsports. His best finish of 2015 was ninth place at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
