Premium Motorsports, owned by Jay Robinson, announced Tuesday it had hired multiple team members from the No. 40 team of Circle Sport Racing for the 2016 season.
The hirings include Mike Hillman as competition director for the Sprint Cup team and crew chief Mark Hillman, who spent 2015 as the crew chief for Landon Cassill. Cassill ran in all 36 races and but was only racing for points in the Xfinity Series.
Premium Motorsports competed in 17 Sprint Cup races in 2015, a majority of them with Brendan Gaughan behind the wheel of the No. 62.
“We had to upgrade our team moving forward and that included Mike Hillman, select key personnel and the purchase of additional cars and equipment,” Robinson said in a team release “The racing bar is being raised even higher and this effort will enable us to commit more resources and become more competitive for 2016.”
The team’s press release said it plans to announce sponsorship and driver news in the coming days.
