Erik Jones

CREW CHIEF: Ryan Fugle (2015) / TBD (2016)

TEAM: Kyle Busch Motorsports (2015) / Joe Gibbs Racing (2016)

POINTS: 1st (2015)

WINS: 3

TOP 5s: 11

TOP 10s: 20

LAPS LED: 925

POLES: 5

WHAT WENT RIGHT: Virtually everything, as the 19-year-old Michigan native, competing in his first full season in the Camping World Truck Series, roared to the championship. … Jones had an outstanding starting average of 4.6 and finishing average of 6.3. … He also led 925 of the 3,437 laps he raced in 2015 in the Truck Series.

WHAT WENT WRONG: Virtually nothing. Jones had just three finishes outside the top-10 during the entire season: 11th (Kansas, spring), 15th (Texas, spring) and a season-worst showing of 23rd (Gateway, spring). … Other than that, he had a spectacular season that culminated in the championship.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN 2016: Jones earned a promotion to the Xfinity Series with Joe Gibbs Racing after his outstanding season in the Trucks in 2015. There’s no reason to think Jones’ talent can’t immediately make an impact in the Xfinity Series. … Plus, he’ll be teamed with Daniel Suarez, which could give JGR the most potent 1-2 punch in the Xfinity Series.
