WHAT WENT RIGHT: Series champion won three consecutive races. … Scored first win of the season at Sonoma in just his fifth start of the year. … Collected his first Brickyard 400 win at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. … He finished in the top five in 48 percent of his starts - the highest percentage in his Sprint Cup career. … He finished in the top 10 in 64 percent of his starts - the highest percentage in his Cup career. … Total winnings topped $8.3 million.

WHAT WENT WRONG: Suffered broken right leg and fractured left foot when his Xfinity car slammed head-on into an unprotected concrete wall inside Turn 1 at Daytona International Speedway in February. … Busch missed the first 11 Sprint Cup races because of the injury. … Finished 36th and 43rd in two of his first four races back from injury, putting his chances of making the Chase in jeopardy at the time.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN 2016: More of the same success just in 11 more races than this past year. Joe Gibbs Racing is the only team to put one car in the championship round each of the past two years. There’s no reason to think JGR can’t do it a third year in a row, and that Busch could be that driver.
