Jeff Gordon

CREW CHIEF: Alan Gustafson

TEAM: Hendrick Motorsports

POINTS: 3rd

WINS: 1 (Martinsville I)

TOP 5s: 5

TOP 10s: 21

LAPS LED: 265

POLES: 4

WHAT WENT RIGHT: In his 23rd and final season in the Sprint Cup Series, Gordon won his 93rd career win, made the Chase for the Sprint Cup and reached the Championship round. … His third place finish was his highest season finish since finishing third in 2009. … Gordon’s four poles were the most since 2008. … He made the Chase with a very emotional win at Martinsville, with perhaps the biggest celebration he’s enjoyed since winning that fourth championship in 2001.

WHAT WENT WRONG: Unfortunately, Gordon’s bid for a fifth Sprint Cup championship – which would have been his first since 2001 – fell short for the final time in 2015. He got off on the wrong foot being involved in other people’s wrecks at Daytona and Atlanta and that seemed to set the tone for him for much of the season. He also failed to do well at tracks like Daytona, Sonoma, Indianapolis and others that he’s previously dominated over his career.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN 2016: Gordon is now officially retired. He’ll join the NASCAR On Fox broadcast team, kicking off at the Daytona 500. … Chase Elliott will replace Gordon in the legendary No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet.
