When the 2016 Sprint Cup season begins in Daytona less than eight weeks from now, it will be interesting to see if the ill feelings between Joey Logano and Matt Kenseth continue.

You know the story: Logano spun Kenseth at Kansas. Then two weeks later, Kenseth slammed Logano into the wall at Martinsville, resulting in an unprecedented two-race suspension for Kenseth.

After sweeping the three races in the second round of the Chase, Logano was behind the eight-ball after Martinsville and would never recover or advance to the championship round, eventually finishing sixth.

As a result, Logano’s series-high six wins – including the season-opening Daytona 500 – essentially went for naught. One must wonder if Logano in any way regrets what happened at Kansas, and if he knew he’d miss a chance at the championship, maybe Martinsville could have been avoided if both he and Kenseth simply talked over their differences.

Kenseth, meanwhile, finished 15th in the Chase after his suspension and also watched a great season go down the drain.

Sure, Kenseth won five races, tying eventual champ Kyle Busch for second-most victories in 2015, but the run-in with Logano ended his hopes – and potentially the best chance he’s ever had at a championship since his first and only Cup title back in 2003.

It would seem that both drivers have something to prove in 2016. But will they be able to avoid a recurrence of their 2015 events?
