WHAT WENT RIGHT: Scott had yet another strong top 10 season in the Xfinity Series for the fifth straight year. … Even though he didn’t earn any poles, he was one of the best qualifiers in the Xfinity Series with a 6.7 average starting spot. … Led 251 laps, second-most in his career. … Best part of season came after it was over: he jumps to the Sprint Cup Series in 2016 with Richard Petty Motorsports in the No. 9 Ford.
WHAT WENT WRONG: The frustration continued for Scott, who once again failed to earn his first win in the Xfinity Series. Still, he has earned 20 top-five and 77 top-10 finishes, plus five poles, in 208 Xfinity starts. … Inconsistency was a problem at times during 2015, but Scott made the most of his opportunities.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN 2016: This is what Scott has hoped for his whole racing life, a promotion to full-time in the Sprint Cup Series. Now he has the opportunity he’s sought for so long, and driving for one of the most legendary names in NASCAR history. … He’ll have a learning curve, but being paired with Heroy should make for a good combination. In 10 Sprint Cup starts in 2015, Scott’s best finishes were 12th, 13th and 14th – so there’s promise there.
