If you’re a NASCAR fan in the Mooresville, North Carolina, area today between 5 - 9 p.m. ET, head over to the NASCAR Technical Institute for the 27th annual Stocks For Tots fundraiser.
A plethora of NASCAR and other motorsports greats will be on hand to not only sign autographs, but also help raise funds to provide Christmas gifts for needy children. NASCAR Technical Institute is located at 220 Byers Creek Rd, Mooresville, NC.
Among those slated to attend: NASCAR Hall of Famers Richard Petty, Bobby Allison (along with Donnie Allison), Ned Jarrett, Rex White and Dale Inman; NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers Joey Logano, Ryan Newman and Ryan Blaney; NHRA drag racing legend Shirley Muldowney; fellow drag racers Doug Herbert, Greg Anderson, Jason Line and Buddy Martin; NASCAR media personalities Mike Joy, Eli Gold, Larry McReynolds and former Charlotte Observer writer Tom Higgins.
Also slated to attend are Jared Irvan, Kerry Earnhardt and three-time Sprint Cup championship crew chief and current TV personality Ray Evernham.
Stocks For Tots Foundation and North Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame chairman Don Miller told the Mooresville (NC) Tribune why the event keeps growing larger and more popular with each passing year.
“This event is a double-whammy, with fans getting the instant gratification of autographs and time with their favorite drivers, but also, more importantly, they are doing something really good for local children in need at Christmastime,” Miller told the Tribune.
Since it began in 1989, Stocks For Tots has raised more than $1 million and collected over 50,000 toys for underprivileged children. It also supports the Stop Child Abuse Now organization.
Miller hopes to raise $25,000 from tonight’s event. Last year’s event raised almost that amount, as well as a box truck filled with toys that were delivered to the Stop Child Abuse Now organization, as well as kids in local hospitals.
“Last year, we had about 85 celebrity guests and this year, we already have 100, so there will be even more stars for people to interact with,” Miller said.
