Baseball fans no longer get pleasant surprise of NASCAR, $2 beers at Eldora Speedway

In the last three years have you or a loved one ever made a pilgrimage to enjoy the annual Major League Baseball All-Star Game?

If so, has said trip ever ended not in Cincinatti, Ohio, New York City or Minneapolis, Minn., but in Rossburg, Ohio, a town of 200 residents?

Have you found yourself confused, disoriented or possibly enjoying a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points race at the historic Eldora Speedway dirt track instead of an exhibition baseball game?

Maybe not, but MLB wants to make sure there’s no confusion in your future travel plans. Eldora Speedway announced today it has agreed with MLB to no longer call its annual Truck race the “Mudsummer” or “Mud Summer Classic.” That’s only one letter away from MLB’s “Midsummer Classic.”

It’s also one letter away from dogs and cats living together and mass hysteria!

“We hope all of the baseball fans who traveled to Rossburg, Ohio the past three years in anticipation of the MLB All-Star Game enjoyed the race and the $2 beers,” said track general manager Roger Slack in a release.

Instead of bad Google search leading to the enjoyment of old fashioned dirt racing and $2 beers on July 20 next year, baseball’s faithful will live in blissful ignorance 2,164 miles away at a slightly meaningful baseball game in San Diego, Calif., on July 12 with $5 beer.

Tickets for next summer’s Truck race at Eldora Speedway, which is clearly not a baseball stadium, go on sale Monday, Dec. 14 at 10 am ET.
