NASCAR driver David Ragan will join forces with Feed the Children to provide 400 families in his native Unadilla, Georgia, as well as surrounding communities in Dooly County, with food and other essentials on Dec. 12.

Ragan will be part of the distribution at State Bank & Trust, 2206 Pine Street, Unadilla, from 10 am to 2 pm ET.

“During the Waltrip Brothers Charity Championship event, I met the Feed the Children group and learned how they can impact a community like mine,” Ragan said in a media release. “During this Christmas season, it will be a blessing to provide help for families in need.”

Families chosen will receive a 25-pound box of food; a 10-pound box of including shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and personal-care items; and a box of assorted Avon products.

According to information provided by Feed the Children, nearly 30 percent of families in Ragan’s native Dooly County live below the poverty line.

Last year, Feed the Children distributed more than $344 million in food and supplies to 13.9 million individuals around the world – including nearly nine million people in the U.S.

With Michael Waltrip Racing having closed at the end of this past season, Ragan continues to seek a ride in either the Sprint Cup or Xfinity Series for 2016.
