Lewis Hamilton has said it before and at the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway last Sunday, the three-time Formula One champion reiterated that he’d like to try his hand at NASCAR.

The Englishman was in attendance of the Sprint Cup Series finale in support of Jeff Gordon when he expressed to ESPN a desire to give stock-car racing a chance.

“It was a really cool event, I hope I get to do one one day,” Hamilton said.

When he was a kid, Hamilton wanted to race motorcycles, but since debuting in Formula One in 2007, the 30-year-old driver hasn’t raced in any other format.

Hamilton was impressed by the show NASCAR put on in the season finale, which was Gordon’s final Sprint Cup start.

“I would have to really think about that but there are definitely things they do a lot better than us ... Or for sure that we could learn from them,” Hamilton said. “It was a great show, a great spectacle for the fans, a bit like DTM fans can get close to the garages in the background, to the drivers.”

Hamilton isn’t the only open-wheel driver who wants to explore what NASCAR has to offer. Verizon IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe told the Toronto Sun at Sunday’s race that he is " super, super keen” to drive an Xfinity Series car in one of its road-course races in 2016.

“We have come close the past couple of years trying to put a program together so now with August pretty much open for IndyCar, the timing couldn’t be better,” Hinchcliffe said.
