Denny Hamlin said Friday that he’ll have reconstructive surgery on the torn ACL in his right knee in early December. Hamlin injured the knee in early September playing basketball. He suffered a torn ACL in his left knee before the 2010 season and delayed surgery until the spring.

“I certainly want to get it over with as soon as possible,’' Hamlin said after winning the pole for Sunday’s season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway about his upcoming surgery. “This one has worked with me a lot better than my first one, for sure. The last time I did it in January, we waited until March (for surgery). That two-month period between I had a lot of moments where it gave out and was doing further damage and this one wasn’t doing that.

“Hopefully, I’m going to come out quicker and stronger since its behaved well.’'
