Kevin Harvick appears well on his way to winning a fifth consecutive Sprint Cup race at Phoenix International Raceway.
At the halfway point (156 laps) of the scheduled 312-lap race, Harvick is leading the Quicken Loans Race for Heroes 500, having led 106 laps as he continues to display his mastery at the one-mile flat track.
Joey Logano, who is in a must-win situation to reach the season-ending and championship-deciding round next Sunday at Miami, is running second.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. is third, followed by Carl Edwards, Jeff Gordon, Martin Truex Jr., Kyle Busch, Texas winner Jimmie Johnson (has led 44 laps), Denny Hamlin and Kurt Busch has rallied back from an early stop-and-go penalty that set him back to 35th place, and is now running tenth.
The start of the race was originally scheduled for 2:30 pm ET, but wound up being delayed by more than six hours, 30 minutes due to rain.
One thing is really starting to concern drivers and crew chiefs: weather radar shows more rain -- with one cell about 15 minutes away and another one about an hour away.
