NASCAR confirms no penalty for Joe Gibbs Racing after confiscating splitters

NASCAR confirmed Tuesday that Joe Gibbs Racing will face no penalties after the splitters of Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards were seized at Texas Motor Speedway.

The teams swapped out the splitters at NASCAR’s request before Sunday’s AAA Texas 500.

NASCAR confiscated the front-end components, and they arrived Monday night at the R&D Center in Concord, N.C., for Tuesday as part of postrace inspection. Executive vice president Steve O’Donnell said Tuesday morning that NASCAR hadn’t decided on if there’d be a penalty, but a NASCAR official confirmed Tuesday afternoon there would be no punishment.

NASCAR also seized the splitters of Team Penske in August at Michigan International Speedway. The teams of Joey Logano and Brad Keselowski also weren’t penalized.
