After being fastest in Friday’s first Camping World Truck Series practice session at Martinsville Speedway, Timothy Peters went out and once again was fastest in the second and final practice later in the afternoon.
Peters (96.083 mph), a native of nearby Danville, Va., just barely held off rookie Cameron Hayley (96.063) for the fastest speed.
Tyler Young was third-fastest (95.453), followed by Daniel Suarez (95.319) and Cole Custer (95.285).
Points leader Erik Jones improved to seventh-fastest (95.252), while two-time defending series champ Matt Crafton struggled to the 21st fastest speed (94.073).
Qualifying and the Kroger 200 race take place Saturday.
