Brad Keselowski, Ryan Blaney top 2nd Sprint Cup practice at Talladega

Brad Keselowski took a big step towards defending last fall’s win at Talladega Superspeedway, recording the fastest speed in Friday’s second and final Sprint Cup practice session.

Keselowski topped the speed chart with a fast lap of 196.423 mph. Ryan Blaney was next (196.342 mph), followed by Dale Earnhardt Jr. (194.721 mph), who won at Talladega this spring, his sixth career win at the 2.66-mile high-speed oval.

Tony Stewart was fourth fastest (194.603), followed by Kasey Kahne (194.161).

Greg Biffle, who was fastest in the first practice session, was 11th-fastest in the second session (193.384).

Only six of the 12 Chase drivers practiced in the second session. Sitting out were all four Joe Gibbs Racing drivers (Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch), as well as Ryan Newman and Martin Truex Jr.

Sprint Cup qualifying is Saturday.
