Open Sprint Cup test today at Phoenix International Raceway


After a two-day tire test at Phoenix International Raceway with four teams, the 1-mile track will host an open Sprint Cup test today.

Chase for the Sprint Cup contenders Kurt Busch, Jeff Gordon, Matt Kenseth, Brad Keselowski, Ryan Newman and Martin Truex Jr. are part of the test, in addition to Jamie McMurray and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

The test began at 9 a.m. local time, with gates opening to fans at 8. For admission, PIR is requesting a $5 donation to Phoenix Raceway Charities.

Free parking is located in the Citrus and Competitor lots, and fans can enter the track at Gate 7. The Jimmy Bryan Grandstand is open for fans with general admission seating.

Phoenix will be the site of the penultimate race of the season Nov. 15. The Quicken Loans Race for Heroes 500 will close the third round of the playoffs, setting up the championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Nov. 22.
