Sprint Cup, Xfinity weekend schedules at Charlotte

The first round of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup has come and gone. Now it’s on to the second round, where the reduced field of 12 drivers will battle the next three races to reach the third round.

The second round will begin with Saturday night’s Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, the first of back-to-back races on 1.5-mile tracks (followed next week at Kansas).

The Xfinity Series will race Friday evening at Charlotte, while the Camping World Truck Series is off until Oct. 24 race at Talladega.

Here’s this weekend’s schedule (times listed are Eastern):

THURSDAY, OCT. 8
9 a.m. – 10 p.m. – Sprint Cup garage open
11:30 a.m. – 9 p.m. – Xfinity garage open
1:30 – 2:55 p.m. – Sprint Cup practice (NBCSN)
3 p.m. – Sprint Cup qualifying inspection begins
3 – 3:55 p.m. – Xfinity practice (NBCSN)
5:30 – 6:55 p.m. – Xfinity final practice (NBCSN)
7:20 p.m. – Sprint Cup qualifying (NBCSN, Performance Racing Network)

FRIDAY, OCT. 9
11 a.m. – Xfinity garage open
2 – 9:30 p.m. – Sprint Cup garage open
3:30 – 4:25 p.m. – Sprint Cup practice (NBCSN)
4:45 p.m. – Xfinity qualifying (NBCSN)
6:15 p.m. – Xfinity driver/crew chief meeting
6:30 – 7:20 p.m. – Sprint Cup final practice (NBCSN)
7:30 p.m. – Xfinity driver introductions
8 p.m. – Xfinity race – Drive for the Cure (200 laps, 300 miles) (NBCSN, PRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio)

SATURDAY, OCT. 10
1 p.m. – Sprint Cup garage open
5 p.m. – Sprint Cup driver/crew chief meeting
6:25 p.m. – Sprint Cup driver introductions
7 p.m. – Sprint Cup race – Bank of America 500 (334 laps, 501 miles) (NBC, PRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio)
