Facing a must-win situation to advance to the second round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup, Kevin Harvick is the leader at the halfway point (200 laps) of the scheduled 400-lap AAA 400 at Dover International Speedway.
Harvick has led 174 laps, while Kenseth has led 24 laps and Kyle Busch has led two laps.
The biggest news thus far has been the fate of Jimmie Johnson. His hopes of a seventh Sprint Cup championship have taken a big hit.
Johnson suffered a broken rear axle seal on Lap 104. The entire rear-end assembly was replaced and Johnson was back on-track on Lap 140, 36 laps behind the leader and still last in the 43-car starting field.
At the midway point of the race, Johnson not only remains last, but even worse, is currently scored 13th in the Chase standings. Only the top 12 drivers will advance to the second round of the Chase after today’s race.
