Byron wins K&N Pro Series East championship

DOVER, Del. - William Byron clinched the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East championship Saturday by finishing ninth in the Driver Sober 125 at Dover International Speedway.

Collin Cabre won, scoring his first career series victory. Eddie MacDonald was second with Rico Abreu third.

The 17 -year-old Byron joins Joey Logano (2007), Ryan Truex (2009), Kyle Larson (2012) and Ben Rhodes (2014) as drivers to win the championship in their rookie season.

Landon Cassill finished eighth. He’s running in the K&N East, Xfinity and Sprint Cup races this weekend at Dover.

The K&N race will be shown at 4 p.m. ET on Thursday on NBCSN.
