Austin Theriault was awake and alert after a Lap 15 crash in the Camping World Truck Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway resulted in the Brad Keselowski Racing driver being airlifted to University Medical Center.
After BKR teammate Tyler Reddick got loose in Turn 4, Reddick came down the track and hit the No. 29 of Theriault, sending the Ford truck nose first into a portion of outside wall on the frontstretch that is not covered by SAFER barrier.
After coming to a rest, Theriault was helped from his truck by safety workers who slowly lowered him into a sitting position on the ground. The 21-year-old, making his ninth Truck start, was then placed on a backboard and put in an ambulance and taken to the infield care center. Theriault was then airlifted by helicopter to the hospital.
