Ryan Preece, the 2013 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion, will attempt to qualify for his first Sprint Cup race this weekend in the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire for Premium Motorsports with technical and strategic support from Tommy Baldwin Racing.

Preece, 25, is the current points leader on the modified tour with four wins and is entered in the No. 98 Chevrolet. In 2015 to date, the 98 has been driven by Josh Wise, Timmy Hill, Reed Sorenson and T.J. Bell.

“I’m extremely lucky to have the support of Tommy Baldwin, I’m thankful to him for giving me this opportunity,” Preece said in a team release. “We have very similar personalities - we are both from the North, have a strong passion for modified racing, and we both have a strong history in the modifieds.”

A native of Kensington, Conn., Preece’s car will be painted to look like a modified car once driven by his grandfather, car owner Bob Judkins

“I hope I can make my family, friends, and most of all, Tommy proud when we race at NHMS,’' Preece said in a team release. “We have our goals, and I hope we reach them. Thanks to everyone who has stepped up to make this possible, and I look forward to getting to race this Sunday.”

The Sylvania 300 can be seen on NBCSN.
