JOLIET, Ill. – Martin Truex Jr. was fastest in the first of two final Sprint Cup practices Saturday at Chicagoland Speedway.
Truex paced the field with a speed of 183.312 mph, followed by Denny Hamlin (182.389 mph), Jeff Gordon (181.830), Austin Dillon (181.616) and Brad Keselowski (181.580).
Keselowski is the defending winner of Sunday’s MyAFibRisk.com 400, and has won two of the last three Chase openers at Chicagoland.
Sixth through 10th fastest were Jimmie Johnson (181.488), Sam Hornish Jr. (181.257), Joey Logano (181.129), Kyle Busch (180.995) and Kurt Busch (180.983).
The second Sprint Cup practice session today will run from 4:30 pm to 5:20 pm ET.
