Aaron’s will not sponsor a NASCAR team after this season, the company announced in a statement Thursday.

We have decided to take some time off from a team sponsorship for the 2016 season. The NASCAR fan base is an important audience for us and we have built substantial equity over the past 15 years. We are exploring creative ways to continue to participate in the sport in 2016 including media, brand relationships and track activation.

Aaron’s has been affiliated with Michael Waltrip Racing since 2000 when the company sponsored Waltrip’s car for six races in what is now the Xfinity Series. The company sponsors the team’s No. 55 Sprint Cup car driven this season by David Ragan.

With MWR closing shop after this season, Aaron’s had the chance to go to another team but decided not to do so. Sports Business Daily first reported Aaron’s decision.
