While legendary tennis player Billie Jean King and NBA great Jerry West were among the best in their sports in their respective primes, they’re also known for something different.
King and West are both living with atrial fibrillation (also known as AFib), an irregular heartbeat condition that puts them and millions of other Americans at a one-in-three risk to suffer a stroke.
Because of their AFIB battles, King and West will serve as Grand Marshals for the Sept. 20 MyAFibRisk.com 400, which kicks off the 10-race Chase for the Sprint Cup.
King is a 39-time Grand Slam tennis champion, while West was a 14-time NBA all-star. Also on hand will be Teri Ackerson, an AFib patient/stroke survivor who will serve as Honorary Starter for the MyAFibRisk.com 400.
According to a media release, “Everyone living with AFib can quickly and easily calculate their personal stroke risk at www.MyAFibRisk.com.”
