After using a multi-zone tread on the right side tire in April’s spring Sprint Cup race at Richmond International Raceway, Goodyear will bring a new right side tire for Sprint Cup and Xfinity Series teams in this weekend’s racing action at Richmond..
The right-side tire (with a code of D-4654) to be used this weekend will be a single compound tire, with the same outboard 10-inch traction zone as the spring tire, giving teams an increased grip advantage.
This weekend’s right-side tire will not have the two-inch inboard endurance zone as the spring tire, which had distinct tread compounds on both the inside and outside of the tire.
The left-side tire (with a code of D-4632) will be the same type that has already been used twice at RIR, last September and this April.
As is typical on ovals of one mile or less in length, tires will not include inner liners at Richmond.
Teams in both the Sprint Cup and Xfinity Series will run the same tire set-up at RIR this weekend.
