NASCAR issued a warning to Denny Hamlin’s Sprint Cup team for failing pre-race inspection four times last weekend at Darlington Raceway.
The only other Sprint Cup team to receive a warning at Darlington was the team of Timmy Hill. The No. 62 team failed pre-qualifying inspection twice.
NASCAR recently streamlined its warning structure. NASCAR’s Rule Book states that for every fourth warning a team receives in a season it will result in the loss of pit selection. Warnings can not be appealed.
The new system began last month.
Previously receiving a warning under the new system were the teams of Dale Earnhardt Jr., Paul Menard, Josh Wise, AJ Allmendinger, Brad Keselowski, Kyle Busch, Matt Kenseth, Jeff Gordon, Joey Logano, Alex Bowman, Travis Kvapil, Timmy Hill, Landon Cassill, Matt DiBenedetto and Clint Bowyer.
Two Xfinity teams also received warnings for issues at Darlington.
Series leader Chris Buescher will be docked 15 minutes of practice time this week at Richmond International Raceway for being late to inspection at Darlington.
The No. 17 team, which had Ryan Ellis as the driver at Darlington, will be docked 15 minutes of practice time the next time it races for also being late to inspection. The No. 17 team is not entered for Friday’s Xfinity race.
