While preparing to start the final 10-race stretch of the Xfinity Series season at his favorite track, Chris Buescher got some good news.
Roush Fenway Racing announced Thursday the current series points leader has locked up sponsorship for six races with AdvoCare, which sponsors Trevor Bayne full-time in the Sprint Cup Series.
AdvoCare will be the primary sponsor of Bueshcer’s No. 60 Ford Mustang this weekend at Darlington Raceway, Richmond (Sept. 12), Kentucky (Sept. 26), Kansas (Oct. 17), Texas (Nov. 7) and Phoenix (Nov. 14).
“I’m excited to have AdvoCare on the car for a series of races to close out the season,” said Buescher in a team release. “Everybody knows that AdvoCare prides themselves on building champions and that is our goal - to close out the final races and bring home the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship.”
Buescher, who has two wins so far in 2015 (Iowa, Dover), leads the Xfinity points standings by 16 points over Chase Elliott, the defending Xfinity champion. Elliott, who won three races en route to his title last season, has yet to win a race through the first 23 events of 2015.
Buescher told NASCAR Talk in April that Darlington is his favorite track, despite never finishing better than 12th in three-career races at the 1.366-mile track
“I’ve had no luck there whatsoever, but I absolutely love going there,” Buescher said. “It’s one of those places that’s got a lot of history to it. It’s unique. It’s got a different shape on both ends, different radius. You run through (Turns) 1 and 2 almost wide open in qualifying. It gets your adrenaline up, it’s just wild. It’s a really cool race track and now that the pavement is starting to wear down I think the racing is starting to get better too.”
Through this season’s first 23 races, Buescher has 10 top-five and 13 top-10 finishes and has finished 99.9 percent of the possible laps (4042 of 4048 laps).
