NASCAR competitors mourn death of IndyCar driver Justin Wilson

NASCAR drivers expressed their condolences on social media for IndyCar racer Justin Wilson, who died Monday, a day after he was struck by debris and suffered a severe head injury.

Wilson was 37.

AJ Allmendinger was Wilson’s teammate at Michael Shank Racing when the team won the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway in 2012.

Allmendinger posted a series of tweets, including: “Life isn’t fair sometimes. We lost one of the great ones today. One of the best ever. I know ur up there being a Wheelman JW. Ur amazing!!!’'

Wilson, who won seven IndyCar races, is survived by wife Julia and two daughters. His wife, brother Stefan, and parents were with Wilson when he passed Monday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Allentown, Pa.
