Daniel Suarez broke Regan Smith’s stranglehold on the Xfinity Dash4Cash sweepstakes in Friday’s Food City 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Finishing fifth, Suarez earned the highest showing of the four eligible drivers and took home $100,000 for his efforts. Smith had won the first two stops on the four-race Dash4Cash program (Dover and Indianapolis).

“I really feel like track position was everything here,” Suarez said. “In the middle of the race, we changed four (tires) and many changed two and made it work. I thought that was something we should try in the end to try and gain track position. It worked out pretty good for us.”

Smith finished ninth, Ryan Blaney was 22nd and a late wreck relegated Elliott Sadler to a 31st place finish.

One final round remains two weeks from now at Darlington Raceway.
