NASCAR weekend schedule at Bristol Motor Speedway, Friday practices through Saturday night’s Sprint Cup race


You can say it a million times and likely not get tired of repeating the famous mantra: “It’s Bristol, baby!”

Saturday is one of those races on the schedule that many circle – the Irwin Tools Night Race.

This is a pivotal race for a number of drivers who are still hoping to make the Chase for the Sprint Cup field. After Bristol, two races remain before the Chase field is set.

Also at Bristol is Friday’s Food City 300 NASCAR Xfinity Series race.

The weekend schedule (All times listed are Eastern):


6 am – 8 pm – Sprint Cup garage open
7:30 am – Xfinity garage open
9 am – 11:25 am – Xfinity final practice (NBC Sports Live Extra has coverage beginning at 9 a.m.; NBCSN coverage begins at 9:30 a.m.)
11:30 am – 12:55 pm – Sprint Cup practice (NBCSN)
1:30 pm – 2:25 pm – Sprint Cup final practice (NBCSN)
2:30 pm – Sprint Cup qualifying inspection begins
3:45 pm – Xfinity qualifying (NBCSN)
5:15 pm – Xfinity driver/crew chief meeting
5:45 pm – Sprint Cup qualifying (NBCSN, Performance Racing Network)
7 pm – Sprint Cup cars loaded in haulers (impound)
7 pm – Xfinity driver introductions
7:30 pm – Food City 300 (300 laps, 159.9 miles) (NBCSN, PRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio)


11:30 am – Sprint Cup garage open
5:30 pm – Sprint Cup driver/crew chief meeting
7 pm – Sprint Cup driver introductions
7:30 pm – Irwin Tools Night Race (500 laps, 266.5 miles) (NBCSN, PRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio)
