Ryan Blaney was fast. So fast he was able to drive his No. 29 Ford back from a controversial restart penalty to win the Camping World Truck Series’ UNOH 200 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

After leading the first 37 laps, Blaney was black flagged for jumping a restart on Lap 38. Blaney returned to the lead lap thanks to a Lap 80 caution. He wouldn’t lead again until the the final three laps on a green-white-checkered attempt.

“I don’t have much to say on that (penalty),” Blaney told Fox Sports 1. “Obviously we didn’t like it. That’s NASCAR’s jurisdiction and we’ll have to clear that up in the future.”

Blaney led a total of 40 laps on the way to his first CWTS win of 2015 and the fourth of his career.

“It says so much of this team to have such a fast (truck) to drive up through there,” Blaney said. “We were one of the cars that could pass on the bottom, so that really meant a lot. We kind of got into the 88 (Matt Crafton) but I think we were both spinning our tires and I couldn’t stay off of him. I don’t know if it cut their left-rear, if it did I apologize.”

A 45-minute rain delay with 34 laps left created a 25-lap shootout, which ended with Blaney beating Matt Crafton to the lead on the final restart as Crafton unexpectedly dropped through the field and pole-sitter Kyle Busch assumed second place.

Busch had won the previous two Truck races he had entered in 2015.

Blaney was followed by Busch, John Hunter Nemechek, Daniel Hemric and Brandon Jones.
