Things really got hopping in Wednesday morning’s final Camping World Truck Series practice at Bristol Motor Speedway – in more ways than one.
We all know that NASCAR red-flags races, qualifying sessions and practices for a variety of reasons.
But Wednesday could be the first time in history that a red flag was thrown for debris of a different kind, namely, a rabbit (see above video, courtesy Fox Sports 1)
Yep, somehow, a rabbit got loose on the racetrack about 10 minutes into the session, bringing on-track action to a screeching halt.
Several NASCAR officials, as well as driver Joe Nemechek, tried to catch the little furry guy, but he showed more great moves than a Heisman Trophy-winning running back.
The rabbit even did a reverse victory lap of sorts, going backwards around the track from Turn 1 to Turn 4.
The rabbit eventually found its way into the infield – and at least temporarily out of harm’s way – allowing practice to resume after about a seven minute stoppage.

As of this writing, Mr. Bunny was still on the loose. And it’s likely he’ll stay that way, according to driver Cameron Hayley, who was betting on the bunny.
“Right now, it’s looking about maybe one or two percent,” Hayley said of the odds that the rabbit would be caught. “That rabbit’s got quite a few good moves out there.”
