Today’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Watkins Glen: Start time, TV information and more

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. — Sunday’s Cheez-It 355 will mark the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series’ lone visit this season to Watkins Glen International.

Here are the particulars (all times are ET):

START: Kroger Company executives Mel Bomprezzi and Brent Cox will give the command for drivers to start their engines at 2:08 p.m. ET. The green flag is scheduled for 2:19 p.m.

DISTANCE: The race is scheduled for 90 laps (220.5 miles) around the 2.45-mile road course.

PRERACE SCHEDULE: The Sprint Cup garage opens at 8 a.m. The drivers meeting is at 1 p.m. Driver introductions are at 1:30 p.m.

NATIONAL ANTHEM: It will be performed by David Cook, winner of the seventh season of American Idol, at 2:01 p.m.

TV/RADIO: NBCSN will broadcast the race (and streaming available at http://stream.nbcsports.com/liveextra), starting with Countdown to Green at 1:30 p.m. Motor Racing Network will broadcast the race on radio and at MRN.com. SiriusXM NASCAR Radio will carry MRN’s broadcast.

FORECAST: The wunderground.com site predicts 77 degrees at race time with a 0% chance of rain.

LAST TIME: A.J. Allmendinger outdueled Marcos Ambrose for his first Sprint Cup victory, which qualified JTG Daugherty for its first Chase for the Sprint Cup berth.
