A wreck in the closing laps of Saturday’s Zippo 200 caused a red flag with six laps remaining.

Brendan Gaughan and Kenny Habul made contact while battling for position in Turn 11, and Habul then was hit by Ryan Reed. The impact sheared off most of Habul’s front end and left his Toyota smoking in the pits.

“I didn’t hear nothing from my spotters, and just looking at how deep he went in there was just no way, he would have turned himself without me,” Habul told NBCSN. “It was a good run, we were in the top 10. We were looking for a top 5 near the end of the day. That’s the way it goes and it’s now it’s off to Mid-Ohio.”

Habul didn’t lose his sense of humor over the incident. When asked if he was okay after the hard lick from Reed, Habul quipped, “Yeah, hard hit, but a couple of Scotches and I’ll be fine.”

“The 20 (Habul) just came down on me,” Gaughan said on his team radio. “I had a problem with his right front wheel and he turned down.
