Rough early start for several drivers in Xfinity race at Watkins Glen

It’s been a rough start for several drivers in Saturday’s Zippo 200 Xfinity Series race at Watkins Glen.

Kyle Larson has taken his car to the garage with an apparent broken axle. He returned to the race on Lap 18 after the axle was replaced. Larson came back 10 laps down.

A few laps later, John Wes Townley suffered a fire under his car. He emerged from the car uninjured.

In addition, Brad Keselowski had early issues with either his gas pedal or throttle spring, but it appears that problem has been resolved, as Keselowski is running second.

Joey Logano suffered a penalty when he pitted on Lap 21 after he left his pit stall with the gas can still affixed. The can eventually fell out on pit road.

And then on Lap 15, Chase Elliott spun while trying to pass teammate Regan Smith, made contact, but was able to resume.
